About

ABOUT THE BOOK

Imagine making a decision that not only changes the course of your life, but those of generations to follow. Consequences tells the story of three women, unknown to each other but connected by the choices they make.
In 1944, radar operator Margaret, released by the war from the confines of her middle-class upbringing, is contemplating what to do about an unplanned pregnancy. In 1965, Christine must decide what to do when the man she loves, refuses to marry her. And in Canada, in 2004, Erin collects a mysterious package for her grandfather and wonders whether to open it. As their stories unfold across the generations, long-buried secrets are revealed, new relationships uncovered, and the unintended consequences of their decisions reverberate through time.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bridget Roe grew up in the 1960’s in the London suburbs. She went to Harrow Weald Grammar, where she met her future husband and developed her love of creative writing. After attending the prestigious Watford Copywriting Course, she moved into branding and communications, where her main claim to fame was naming Wispa for Cadbury’s.

In 1978 she found out that her father had a second life that she knew nothing about. Nearly 40 years later, she stopped working for long enough to write about it in her debut novel Consequences. Bridget now lives under one roof in a multigenerational house with her husband, one of her daughters, her son-in-law and their two dogs. When she’s not writing, she runs a private hire swimming pool that she hopes might give her enough ammunition for her next book.

CAST OF CHARACTERS

Some of the characters in Consequences are based on real people and some are figments of my imagination. This gallery shows how I imagined the characters as I wrote the book.

Jo Hall

“I was genuinely moved at times, both to smiles and tears."
